Team USA will be led at the Pan American Championships by a large number of record setters and award winners. Bryshon Nellum (Los Angeles, Calif.) was recently selected as Gatorade National Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. He won the 400 meter dash at the Finish Line Junior Outdoor Championships last weekend in Indianapolis, Ind., in a time of 45.38 seconds. 2007 Gatorade National Youth Track & Field Athlete of the Year and two-time U.S. Junior champion Emily Pendleton (Elmore, Ohio) will compete in the women's discus. Rynell Parsons (San Antonio, Texas) leads a strong sprint crew for Team USA after winning the 100m dash at the Finish Line Junior Championships in a World Youth best time of 10.23. Parsons edged out Scott Wims (Fort Wayne, Ind.) by one-hundredth of a second. Along with the 100m dash, Wims will represent Team USA in the 200m. Two-time U.S. junior champion and 2007 Nike Outdoor National champion Jessica Beard (Euclid, Ohio) ran 52.12 in the 400m dash at the Junior Championships and will race for Team USA at that distance.
